The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday recommended tighter controls on how doctors prescribe the most commonly used narcotic painkillers, changes that are expected to take place as early as next year.

McDonald's has lost its taste for Heinz ketchup.

The fast-food giant said in a statement Friday that it is cutting ties with the condiment company after 40 years due to management changes there. A former Burger King CEO became head of Heinz in June after the company was bought by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway and 3G Capital. 3G, a Brazilian investment firm, also controls Burger King.

The impact of the change may be tasted more overseas. In the U.S., McDonald's uses Heinz products only in Pittsburgh and Minneapolis restaurants

JonBenet's Parents Were Indicted

A grand jury voted in 1999 to charge JonBenet Ramsey's parents with child abuse after their six-year-old daughter was found beaten and strangled, indictments released by a judge Friday reveal. In the case that launched years of sensational media coverage, the grand jury issued separate but identical indictments for John and Patsy Ramsey, charging each with one count of chld abuse resulting in death and one count of being accessories to a crime. Prosecutors decided at the time not to pursue the charges because they believed they lacked evidence to prove the Ramsey parents were guilty. They always maintained their innocence, and were partially exhonerated by DNA evidence in 2008. Patsy died of cancer in 2006.

Hundreds of protesters have attacked a bus station in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, setting fire to a bus and destroying cash and ticket machines.

Riot police responded with tear gas and at least six people were arrested.

Protesters were demanding free public transport. High transport costs triggered protests in Sao Paulo in June that later spread across Brazil.

The clashes came as President Dilma Rousseff announced a plan to improve public transport in the city.

Friday's protests began with a march through the city that lasted about three hours.

Violence erupted when a section of the crowd broke off and attacked a bus terminal in the city centre, police said.

Masked protesters, said to include members of the so-called Black Bloc anarchist group, set light to a bus and vandalised cash machines and ticket turnstiles.

The widow of the Communist leader of what was once Yugoslavia has died in Belgrade of a heart attack, aged 88.

Jovanka Broz joined the partisans led by Josip Broz Tito who fought the Nazi occupation in World War Two.

She became first Tito's personal secretary, then his third wife in 1952. When Tito died in 1980, she was under house arrest for a time. She lived her last three decades in isolation.

She was left stateless by the collapse of Yugoslavia in the 1990s.

"With Broz's death, we are left without one of the last most reliable witnesses of our former country's history,'' Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said in a message of condolence.

A 92-year-old's offer to buy back his house has been accepted by his daughter, preventing his eviction from his home of 56 years.

After raising money from Internet donors, John Potter of Zaleski, Ohio, had attempted to buy back his home before an eviction hearing at the Vinton County Courthouse. Jury selection was scheduled for Oct. 3, after the eviction hearing was postponed during the summer.

He received an eviction notice from his daughter, Janice Cottrill, and son-in-law earlier this year, saying they had terminated his "existing lease."
