Worshipped by Hindus, the river Ganges is full of toxic industrial waste, domestic rubbish,

clothing detergent and human waste (55 per cent of the population have no toilets).

Millions defecate in the holy river every day, as well as using its waters to clean their teeth,

for drinking and cooking.

The River Ganges is a very sacred river ....even upon a Hindu's death :

Cremation is performed and their Ashes committed to the closest Waterway around.

Most waterways on the planet interconnect and hence their Ash will reach the Ganges.

During the travel of the ashes, many Pujas and prayers are kept.
