Everyone has a Yard , right ?
In GT back in the mid 70s we used toe tell each other Lets meet by by so and so Yard
Jamaicans just wanna Own it .

Because in our Patois, "Yard" is synanimous with home "home" and since Jamaicans like to say "yow when ya go a yard" when refering to Jamaica... Jamaicans are called Yardie, it just means home, or Jamaica, as such a Yardie is a jamaican...

It is NOT exclusive to Jamaica : it was used in Guyana circa 60s and 70s.
Then went outta style ::LOL::
