The President also urged Afro-Guyanese to change their culture of doing things by being thrifty rather that focus on gold teeth, apparel, ‎cigarettes and alcohol. "You make the choices and you will have to live with the consequences," said Granger, a historian and former Brigadier of the Guyana Defence
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

if the president really, truly sending a message he have tuh be sincere, straight and most of all simple and clear
and as speaking fuh the government he have to have program of action ready to go. what he expect the people to jess up and follow he words?
many before him.... he have to demonstrate sincerity and action.
but from what I see from Granger he is insincere. and if so this is jess politics, posing and setting up his excuse for the furture way in the past.
when Granger done nig nogs will still be the same way he recommends be changed. and he will say "well I tell them you know. I warn dem, tirelessly but dem wun lissen. deh head hard!"
how do you change a population, by rhetoric..or by changing the reality on the ground dat have dem stupid so that they see what is required to change and can actually do it..because the government clears the way ::confused::
I was a businessman and I see the west indies and I know that the system does not permit people to get rich unless they can latch on to the government and thief it bline. all else is organized for the rich big corporations/banks
there is no chance for anyone..even ordinary Indians. most indos still not rich.
the supposed wealth of Indos must be examined to tell what it is really made up of. Indos work collectively to control institutions, business, government to control access to available jobs. Indo rich have smooched off the government...bobol, corruption.
it is hard to make money in Titty/west indies as Kirpalani found out. the economy is bled like a stuck pig by the banks and corps..oil/telecommunications/insurance etc., so there is little left as disposable income that can make commercial enterprises rich.
the vast majority who get into commercial enterprises may do well enough to live at middle class levels. but they do not get rich except they can latch into where the government spends money and make corruption..or sell and tranship drugs
the oil money in Titty musta helped fuh awhile..yet the usual suspects bled that too.
the way the west indies function it is impossible for the people to get up off the ground without government policy fully backing any such program. which means the government must attack and clean up the forrin banks/corporations which would leave a lot of the national pie to the government, that can make social development of the people a viable project
Granger talking but he can only fool fools. he is playing political games throwing the blame for development back onto the people who cant do a dam thing because forriners have the economy by the scruff of its neck. if Granger is not in behind what he says with the proper action nothing will change. then he will blame the people for his own failure
