An Idaho lunch lady who was fired for giving a free lunch to a 12-year-old girl who had no money was offered her job back by the school district Wednesday night, reports the Idaho State Journal. Dalene Bowden was fired from Irving Middle School last week after she offered to pay for a student's $1.70 meal, but her supervisor said she could not, and so she provided the meal for free. Bowden was placed on leave and then reportedly fired for "theft of school district property" two days later, the newspaper wrote. The school district issued a press release about 9 p.m. Wednesday night offering Bowden her job back following the national backlash in the press and on social media.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

This world is really crooked since you will be fired for helping those in need. A company won't lost anything by giving one free meal for one who would need it. However it shouldn't become a habit. If I had a restaurant company I would thank my employee for doing the right thing.

I'm sure once the story reaches enough people the woman will be fine. She can do much better than being a lunch lady at some crappy school...

Had it been a dog that she fed , there wouldn't have been a problem, anyhow she was reinstated after the outrage that was expressed on social media

Why would she want to go back to that job, though? Must be awkward working for the people that sacked you so quickly. I would have thought that the media blitz might have opened more doors for her...maybe her skills are lacking :-/

To be fair, if I was the lunch lady in that position, I would of done the same thing. I would be happy to be fired from these pricks. I bet they would of not give the food to a starving child even if it's their own. I wish the lunch lady the best of luck and hopefully be able to find a better job with better people.
