A hedge fund manager who was charged last week with insider trading was found dead in his home on Monday in an apparent suicide. Sanjay Valvani was found by his wife in their bedroom. Valvani, 44, had a slash wound on his neck, according to police, and a suicide note was found nearby. "Valvani was a loving father, husband, son and brother and committed friend, colleague and mentor," Valvani's lawyers said in a statement. "We hope for the sake of his family and his memory that it will not be forgotten that the charges against him were only unproven accusations and he had always maintained his innocence." Valvani pleaded not guilty last week in federal court on charges that he used insider information to trade on generic drug approvals.

Elon Musk has won legions of fans with a string of successes that includes PayPal, Tesla Motors and SpaceX. But even that resume may not comfort investors concerned about his latest radical idea.
Musk has proposed that his electric car developer Tesla acquire solar panel installer SolarCity for $2.8 billion. He's the principal stakeholder of both, but has recused himself from the talks and said the deal will require support from a majority of "non-me shareholders."
