I agree that education is priceless and completely worth it. As long as you'll be studying something that will pay off and won't leave you in permanent debt, you'll be fine! You can also get a free college education in many countries today.

In Brazil you have a very strange situation.... The public schools are very bad.... so if you can, you pay for a good basic education in a private school.... but then the best Universities are Public and Free! But you have to do a test to get in, and only the ones with the best basic educations can get in. At the end, you have the best public free universities full of students from families that could afford a pay University.

From where I am, education is expensive as well. There are public high schools as well as public universities. With public high schools, they are easy to get in unless they're the "science" schools which screen students and only the smart ones get in. Then with universities, it's harder to get in since they also have screening tests and only the top students get in the university. Problem is, even those who can afford high paying and known universities apply for these schools which lead to some imbalance, at least for me.
Anyway, another problem is even with a college degree, you cannot find suitable jobs for you. Most of my classmate work for call centres right now, which don't even require a college degree. Some graduates work as waiters as well just to have some job. That's the sad state of my country really. That's why lots of people here find jobs abroad to support their families.

Keep in mind that even a "free education" is never free! The money must come from somewhere and it is usually from our taxes. We always pay at the end.
