Taste of the Caribbean is an annual event organised by the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA), bringing together teams from around the Caribbean to showcase the diverse culinary flavours of the region. This is the sixth time Trinidad and Tobago has won the top honour since the competition began in 1993.
Each team is composed of two senior chefs, one junior chef, one bartender, one pastry chef and one manager. The participating team members represent hotels, restaurants or educational institutions in the Caribbean which are members of the CHTA.
In a Facebook post, the Trinidad Hotels, Restaurants & Tourism Association (THRTA) conveyed hearty congratulations to all the Caribbean culinary teams that “participated and produced excellence over this past week at Taste of the Caribbean 2016.†“The camaraderie and warmth felt and shared by all reconfirmed the rich and unique experience that the Caribbean has on offer to the world.
“We also extend congratulations to the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) for producing another successful instalment of Taste of the Caribbean in 2016. This competition underscores the priority placed by CHTA and National Hotel Associations in the human capital development of our young, talented culinary professionals throughout the region.†(See Gallery, Section
