Terrorism is bad, but does the average person really care?

Have you noticed statements from news anchors about the average person becoming used to hearing about domestic mass shootings, terrorist bombings, national threats. I have noticed this myself, I feel like people really don't care deeply about these events like they used to.

I hate to see terrorism happening, but it's so common that you just expect to wake up and hear about something bad happening all over again that you really aren't affected emotionally anymore.

Anyone else feel like this?

Has anyone else noticed how the war on terrorism has actually created more terrorism? I don't know about you, but as an 'average person' I honestly feel that we need to stop fighting terrorism and start rallying for peace. Remember what you resist persists. So I think that if we really want to see change, we have to start focusing on what we really want, which is peace.

Yes, I notice this. Although, personally, I try not to watch the news especially because it DOES upset me greatly. I would rather read something or hear it from a friend and then look up details. Seeing the reality of it on TV, especially when they show the wounded/dead, is actually too much for me.

I think that the media, historically and today, sometimes does us a disservice by being so detailed in what they show that they add to or desensitization.

Of course, we don't think about the issue every single day unless it's our profession. We don't commemorate the victims all the time unless our loved ones were involved in terrible terrorist attacks. The best thing we can do is to stay vigilant and report all the suspicious people who may practice some terrorist ideology and make preparations to what may become another attack.

I definitely agree, I have noticed over many recent decades, America has not had a time frame when it was not at war with any other nation. I think it's their prerogative to stay in war as it's profits in the billions easy, tens of billions.

People will most likely say that's not true but if you knew that you could make 1 trillion dollars from starting a war that will cost you only 1 billions, ask yourself honestly if you would make the investment, and stand behind the thought of men you send to their deaths being heroic and honorable for them and their nation.

War is never going away in America, neither is domestic violence.

this is exactly the plan - get ppl used to seeing mass catastrophies so that it doesn't phase us when it happens.

Humans are offered a false dichotomy:

Civilization on one hand, and lawless, chaotic, violent terrorism on the other.

But civilization is itself terrorism, breeds and requires terrorism. And even at its most benign, civilization requires almost 2/3s of your planet in poverty. Even in a first world superpower like the US, 70-80 percent of your populace lives pay cheque to pay cheque.

So "terrorism" is not some irrational intrusion of "bad behaviour". Its a reflection of a world that doesn't care about people.
