Drake: Making the transition from a Canadian teen idol to one of American rap's most legit performers appeared to be a seamless process for Drake. After staring on the Canadian teen drama, "Degrassi", Drake made a huge leap into the rap world when he was signed to Lil Wayne's Cash Money record label. Drake has emerged as hip-hop's savior and biggest act; Drake concert dates are currently scheduled internationally in support of his debut album.

The Canadian entertainer began his career in 2001 with a role on the Canadian drama "Degrassi: The Next Generation". His stint on the show lasted until 2009 and by then, Drake was well on his way to rap superstardom. By 2006, Drake was already making a name for himself when he self-released his mixture "Room for Improvement", which was produced with DJ Smallz. The tape featured guest spots with Trey Songz and Lupe Fiasco, and he even got Pharrell Williams to produce a track. He quickly garnered the attention of rap mogul Lil Wayne, who invited Drake to tour with him and collaborate on new material.

By early 2009, Drake had become an overnight celebrity when his tracks blew up on the radio. Solo singles, Young Money singles, and featured singles, Drake's signature voice has been unavoidable on radio over the past two years. As a solo artist he has charted six top #2 rap singles, two top #2 collabo singles, and nine top #2 R&B/rap singles as a featured artist, all since 2009. With all the buzz surrounding his name, Drake quickly released an EP, "So Far Gone", which featured the smash single "Best I Ever Had". The EP became the fifth best selling rap album of 2009 and generated huge anticipation for a full-length debut. Drake's concert schedule also had the rapper touring the nation on "America's Most Wanted" tour which featured Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and other members of the Young Money crew.

Drake suddenly became Rap music's most prolific and in-demand rapper. His 2010 debut album, "Thank Me Later", was finally released in June and featured the lead single "Over". The album sold nearly half a million copies in its maiden week becoming one of the biggest releases of the year. Drake tour dates were scheduled on the "Lights Dreams and Nightmares Tour" during September in support of his debut. The tour wrapped in late 2010 and Drake has been in the studio working on his sophomore release, "Take Care", ever since.

Drake emerged as an overnight rapping sensation, changing-up the game and re-writing the record books. I don't care about this.  this currently is low stuff that all knowledgeable people understand.

Drake is a joke rapper of no depth at all.  he has his voice moment s but he is not a quality singer and does not have an all round class voice to sing or rap.

Drake is a marketing ploy that works with these generations because rap has been watered down to nothing and dat is all the young people have to go by.  so Drake wins..

and Nikki Minag although she has a voice and can rap a bit.  but she sings nothing, empty songs that mean nutten to no one on any useful level of consciousness.

same with Riana and Chris Brown..nutten music that deadens the intellect and emotions.  that is what the entire music industry is now...low class crap music that is hardly worth a listen.

there is no one making great music anymore...only those making crap  music that is marketed as great music.

and even if there are those still making great music the industry will not use it anymore. not when they have tons of mediocrities willing to sell their souls to the industry, whose crap music they fill the air waves with..nonsense, sex of all kinds and bling, bling and more bling

I don't mind Drake as a person.  he seems nice enough. level headed enough. he was poor and did not do well in school.  he got a break and has been built up big.  he will be all right from now on financially.  he can now take care of his mom.  good fuh him

but he means nutten to me as a musician, a rapper.  he is simply not good enough.  neither he nor Jay, lil Wayne, who is a pestilence..along with all dem test and dem running around the place currently...lil Jeezy,fifty cents Future, Kanye West......

I have a wealth of the real thing in the past to go back too..a store house of music that never gets dated..fresh as the days they were created up to fifty-sixty years ago and forward.

there are also a few current icons in the general trash, who are really good:  Keisha Cole, Krisette Michelle for eg.

but pile all ah them together today, including Jay Z, Puffy, Snoop etc.,  and squeeze them to see if you cant get one Chuck D, or KRS one, or Curtis blow....

impossible!  not even close

Well, I love Drake. He is just super cute and he's a great example of the power of persevering to make your dreams come true. As far as his singing goes, I agree that he's not on the same level as the great Jay Z, Fifty and Kanye but he still is doing pretty well for himself.

Drake apparently did not do so well among Toronto Jews growing up.  its clear he did not do well in school although he went to one of the most prestigious Toronto high schools...

Drake ended up hustling the entertainment industry in Toronto to make something for himself...until the idea of he being a rapper emerged and his build up began.  he was a star even before he released a record

all the best to him.  he is half black after all.  but he is not a great rapper.  and I don't hold Jay Z and Kanye West to be great rapper either but paper think fakers.  rap as an art form is dead, killed by the music industry. 

the music industry does not want that at all.  they don't want NWA or KRS1 and such realities.  they want Snoop dog and Diddy, Kanye and Fiddy, Jay Z..Drake and Lil Wayne... deh want Nickky and Chris, Rihana where we used to have Chaka and Phylis Hyma...n

he is a kind of Drake, before Drake..mixed black and Jew.  but where Drake is an ordinary boy growing up with a genuine personality..Walser clearly was not, and is not a normal kind of genuine personality.

Walser was Grammy nominated and even won I think
