not to be distracted by homosexual fish..when I look at all these lushious fruit I am niggled at the side of my mind horribly by the knowledge of my terrible food allergies.

a few years ago I ened up in emergency when a friend gave me some lichee and I popped one in my mouth.  very sweet taste but deadly.

it occurred to me the folowing as an explanatin of food allergies.

all life forms, including plants have evolved defence mechanisms to faciliate their evolutionary success, which defences would be most powerful around their reproductive processes.

where do not eat the whole entitity of a target form for food, we target their reproductive  process as food....cereals and fruit.  we eat their seed by which deh reproduce.

we never approach food from this angle, yet we have all manner of food borne problems and we never think that we are eating the plants defence mechanisn which are intended to be poisonous and to protect the plant.

there are problems, severe dangers with everything we eat and yet by appraoching the food as defence mechanisms for the organisms we chow down on,  we would could seek find the poisons and neutralise it  to ensure no danger to humans remain

but we dont think like that..live as if the world was meant for us and we can live in it as we please.  totally religious ::confused::

The " flowery " Tamarind is the best !

break it in the middle , rub the 2 parts together and it forms a pulp:

Delish !

in Trinidad dat is called 'CHATAIN'GE'  it is spelled soemthng like dat.  that I am sure is not the correct spelling and the word is fren I believe.

the common phonetic is 'shatine'

but we boil it when it ripe...when it fall from the tree which looks very much like the breadfruit tree..and buss up on the ground,  then the seed shell is very hard and takes time to boil with salt.

it eats deliciously but is a significant producer of stomach gas with the usual result of that with very strong aromas :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

when picked young the white fless and young seed is curried and eaten with white rice or roti.  I never hear about frying it!
