I'll never go to war for the sake of those god awful Bollywood movies.  But in terms of great acting, Amir Khan was superb in Rangeela.  The rest of the movie is typical Bollywood tripe (ie. song and dance routine and the plot is the usual love triangle with a happy ending).

I saw Laagan but I wasn't impressed.  As I said before the only bollywood movie where I saw real pedigree acting was in 'Rangeela'.  I actually saw it many years ago on TV Ontario with subtitles.  They showed it as part of a foreign film weekend where they took the best movies from various parts of the world dealing with social and economic issues.  In that film, Amir Khan plays a low class/caste ticket tout who falls a pretty girl trying to make it big in Bollywood.  His love is unrequited but in the end she falls for him too. Awwwwww. ::lol::
