A Mumbai-based model Leena Kapoor has filed a written complaint with the police in Mumbai against well-known cricket umpire and a member of ICC's Elite Umpire Panel, Asad Rauf for allegedly sexually exploiting her with a false promise of marriage.
Kapoor has reportedly said in her complaint that Rauf has refused to even admit to knowing her, despite being in an intimate relationship since March this year.
Kapoor, a resident of suburban Oshiwara, has sent the complaint against the former first-class Pakistani cricketer, Rauf, to DCP Pratap Dighavkar's office alleging that Rauf has been sexually exploiting her for over six months with the promise of marrying her but has now refused to even acknowledge her presence in his life.
Kapoor has reportedly said that she met Rauf through a mutual friend in Sri Lanka around March and the two got along well after which they decided to stay together while in Sri Lanka.
On her return to Mumbai, she kept in touch with Rauf. He later visited her in Mumbai and even attended to her while she was sick. Kapoor has reportedly said that their relationship became romantic and he promised to marry her despite having a family in Pakistan, comprising of a wife and two children.
Kapoor says that Rauf assured her that as per the tenets of his religion, he could take another wife and his present wife would consent to his marriage to Kapoor because they were in love.
Even during the recently concluded IPL tournament of which Rauf was part, Kapoor says he stayed with her in Mumbai and the two continued to share a close relationship.
However, over the last few weeks the communication snapped and Kapoor reportedly kept trying to get in touch with Rauf, but in vain.
Last week, her complaint alleges, she received Rauf's call and he denied knowing her. Further, she reportedly says, he warned her to not pursue any communication with him because he did not know who she was. Kapoor did not respond to calls and text messages.
