israel's seventh prime minister has died in Tel Aviv.

Ynet has reported Yitzhak Shamir died on Saturday. He was 96 years old.

Shamir served two terms in office: 19831984 and 19861992.

Speaking after news of his death, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the former leader as "a paragon of loyalty to the Land of Israel and the eternal values of the Jewish people."

He said: "Yitzhak Shamir belongs to a generation of giants, who founded the State of Israel and fought for the freedom of the Jewish people in its land."

Opposition Leader Shelly Yachimovich also offered her condolences over Shamir's death: "He was a determined prime minister who dedicated his life to the state. He followed his ideological path honestly and humbly, as a leader should," she said.

"The citizens of Israel will always remember the wisdom he demonstrated during the First Gulf War. He showed restraint and saved Israel from undue entanglement in the Iraq War. This decision proved to be a brave and wise act of leadership."

Shamir will be laid in state in the Knesset Plaza in Jerusalem on Monday.

He will receive a State funeral and will be laid to rest in the Nation's Great cemetery on Mount Hertz.

Mr Bush will be in Zambia and Botswana this week to discuss his foundation's concern over the incidence of cervical cancer in Africa.

Zambia has one of the highest incidences of cervical cancer in the world.

The disease is often compounded because sufferers are also living with HIV and have weakened immune systems.

Mr Bush, during his presidency, set up prevention and treatment programs for Africa with bipartisan support from Congress.

The initiative supplies drugs to millions of Africans living with HIV.

Report: Homeless man scammed luxury hotel stays at others' expense

A homeless man is accused by police of living the high life in hotels, racking up thousands of dollars on other people’s credit cards, according to a report in Florida.
Drifter David Price was arrested on Friday and is being held at the Orange County Jail in Orlando, according to WTFV.
The station said Price would apparently watch hotel guests leave their rooms before slipping inside and claiming to be the guest, calling the front desk and extending the stay, sometimes by 10 days.
Despite being homeless for two years, he had managed to stay at others’ expense in top hotels including The Ritz Carlton, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Portofino Bay.

At the latter, Price allegedly racked up nearly $9,000 in charges on the credit card of Ohio man Joseph Barak, WFTV said.
“I don’t know how he got in my room, how he got my debit card.  But he got like the best wines, the best restaurants, room service.  He got clothes and the whole ball of wax,” said Barak, was later able to get his money back.
Police reports indicate that investigators at Walt Disney World have also looked into possible fraud by Price, the station said.
The report could not immediately be confirmed with local police.

CBS/AP) COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The deadly crash of a military cargo plane fighting a South Dakota wildfire forced officials to ground seven other Air Force air tankers, removing critical firefighting aircraft from the skies during one of the busiest and most destructive wildfire seasons ever to hit the West.

The C-130 from an Air National Guard wing based in Charlotte, N.C., was carrying a crew of six and fighting a 6.5-square-mile blaze in the Black Hills of South Dakota when it crashed Sunday, killing at least one crew member and injuring others.

A myriad of factors will conspire to send the stock marketing plummeting for the balance of the year, says Todd Schoenberger, managing principal of money manager BlackBay Group.

He sees the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index dropping 40 percent to 815 from 1,358 recently.

“Going forward it's best to be bearish," Schoenberger tells Yahoo.

So what’s going to fuel the move?

“You have Europe, where there’s a deep, deep recession,” he says. And Europe is a major customer of China, which already is seeing an economic slowdown.

China’s GDP growth shrank to 8.1 percent in the first quarter from 8.9 percent in last year’s final quarter.

In the United States, “we are running into a brick wall,” Schoenberger says. “The fiscal cliff means higher taxes. We’re not going to have anyone to bail us out, and we’re talking about austerity.”

In addition, earnings growth has decelerated to 3 percent year-on-year from 12 percent a year ago, Schoenberger says. “Where are earnings coming from?”

And finally, the Federal Reserve won’t ease again before the election, he predicts. “This second half is going to be absolute doom and gloom.”

Not everyone agrees with Schoenberger’s negative forecast.

“We still believe in the bull market,” Laszlo Birinyi, president of Birinyi Associates, tells Bloomberg. “I’m just telling people to turn the page to the investments, the things that you can really quantify and put your fingers on. Stick to what truly matters: company fundamentals.”
