The NYPD Is Stop-And-Frisk Happy…. In 2011, in New York City, 685,724 people were stopped, 84 percent of whom were Black and Latino residents — although they comprise only about 23 percent and 29 percent of New York City’s total population respectively. In the first three months of 2012, the NYPD stopped and frisked people 203,500 times. In the same three months last year, the NYPD stopped people 183,326 times. Eighty-seven percent of those stopped in 2011 were Black/Indian or Latino and the abysmally low rates of correlation between stops and actual arrests persist: nine out of ten persons stopped were not arrested, nor did they receive summonses.

1. More Young Black Men/Indian/Lation Were Stopped By The NYPD In 2011 Than There Are Young Black Men in New York City
2. The NYPD Uses Force Against Black/Indian and Latinos more Than Whites.
3. With Huge Increase in Stop And Frisks, Only Minor Increase In Guns Found
4. Small Percentage Actually Involved In Violent Crime
5. NYPD Will Stop You for 'Inappropriate Attire Off Season'
6. The Vast Majority of Those Stopped Are Innocent
7. Whites Are Almost Twice As Likely To Be Found With a Weapon

Despite insistence by the NYPD that stop-and-frisk has helped reduce crime, the practice has never been shown to yield a statistically-relevant reduction in crime. However; some wanted criminals and guns have been found during the “Stop & Frisk” process.
