Some of you may know how strongly I feel about the number of Saffers playing for England.

The main reason is not of where they are born rather where they grew up. Being bought up in a country for a substantial part of your life allows you to absorb key cultural attributes and have the opportunity to experience the education and sporting age groups.

I have often given the example of Trott celebrating with the Saffers mates, when they beat us, 18 months before his debut in the Ashes at The Oval.

There are exceptions like asylum, marriage etc but I felt the same thing about Nash.

He should never have played for the West Indies.

He is playing for Kent and I suspect in the off season he is back in his homeland Australia. Why is he not living and playing for Jamaica as he was so loyal to her, trying to get back his test spot? Although he had a poor run prior to being dropped, I though he could have offered more to the team.

Like Zola Budd using us, Nash did the same.

Thoughts?

Same thing Ketch. I assume he was born and grew up in Trinidad. Were his parents from India?

Did he ever play for Trinbago?

Wisden overview

Robin Singh, an athletic allrounder, has tenacity and commitment as his greatest allies.

In his second coming at age 33 -

seven years after he made his international debut in his birthplace, Trinidad -

sharp, gutsy pressure-play earned him a regular place:

in India one-day team.  ::yawn::

This is a bit like Kepler Wessles having played for Australia returned  played and lived in SA after the fall of apartheid.

I thought subsequently there was a ruling if you played representative cricket for one full member country you could not play for another full member.

He did not flee India after his career was over and it seems he has played for India more than he did in the Windies.

Wikipedia suggests his parents are from India and he moved back there when he was quite young, not sure how long.

It appears he never played for either T&T or Windies.

All his cricket has been played in India where he resides.

ChristinaIt is time for a full evaluation and accountability to the people of this region for the disastrous batting performance of the West Indies Cricket Team. We cannot disregard what all of us witnessed and endured in the last three test matches. This is not about our players, administrators, or any individual; it is an entire system that is failing, and together, all of us must fix it now. This cannot continue into another series; we must not allow it to.(15.07.2025, 15:52)(15:52)0
