Sean Abbott, who delivered the bouncer which led to the death of Australia batsman Phillip Hughes last month, could return to action for New South Wales on Tuesday.
The fast bowler, 22, is included in a 12-man squad for the four-day Sheffield Shield match against Queensland at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where Hughes was struck and collapsed on 25 November.
The team will not be announced until the morning of the game, with all players having the option to withdraw if they feel they are not ready.
NSW captain Moises Henriques said: "From our point of view, we are trying to expel his name from the tragedy a little bit.
"I don't think he was any more at fault than any fast bowler who has ever bowled a bouncer in his career.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Kohli will captain India as MS Dhoni has been ruled out due to his thumb injury. Clarke is passed fit to captain Australia.

In a touching tribute, Phillip Hughes has been listed as
"13th man"
Australia's players will all wear shirts emblazoned with Hughes Test number - 408.
His Test cap number is painted on the Adelaide Oval outfield....
