Of the 4 matches at the MCG this World Cup, 3 teams that won the toss (India twice and Sri Lanka once) chose to bat first. England were the only team to win the toss at the MCG and elect to field first.

Australia will win as I have stated before. New Zealand are new to a world cup final and they don't know what it takes to win a world cup. Australia are determined to take back the trophy and they want revenge on New Zealand for the group stage defeat.

Interesting fact about the Kiwis
The Black Caps have played 35 one-day internationals since December, 2013 - and 30 of those have been played in New Zealand.
New Zealand has ventured off-shore to play 50-over cricket just once in that timeframe, contesting a five game series against Pakistan in the UAE four months ago.
Since then, the Black Caps have played 17 straight ODIs on home soil for 14 wins, two losses and a no result.

Kiwis will be out of their comfort zone having played all their games at home. I read where they stopped off last October en route to the UAE to visit the MCG.
However, an empty MCG and one with 100,000 spectators (presumably mostly OZ)is a different scenario !! Then there is the matter of the small boundaries vs the vast ones at MCG and also one wouldn't expect the ball to swing as much in Melbourne as it has done for Boult and Southee in NZ. Re the toss ..... Win toss ...Bat !!

That hardly sounds like good preparation for an away final. They really should have tried to schedule some matches that would prepare them for the conditions they were likely to face when they had to leave the security of home soil for such an important match.
