Losing Kyle Abbott and then Jackson Bird, his replacement, going down with an injury has really hurt an already weak bowling attack. It's going to be a long hard struggle for Hampshire to stay in Division One, especially if Fidel is being counted on to bowl significant overs this season.

Yorkshire not really missing Plunkett as Rashid and Brooks have limited Hampshire to 228/8. Carberry, England's forgotten man, scored 97. Fidel did pick up his first wicket for Hampshire.

Who would Pietersen replace in the team? Unless he opens the batting (which I don't think is going to happen), the only batsman I could see him replacing would be Bell, who has averaged 33.72 since the start of 2014.
