West Indies cricket declined due to loss of nationalism

Think of West Indian cricket and several images flood the mind; of free-spirited batsmen who tore into the bowling with strokes of power, of menacing fast bowlers who blew away line-ups and a bunch of players who entertained …and still won.

It was not about money. It was a lot about pride, a precious attribute that separated a cricketer from a mercenary.

The buck stops at the Board and its leadership. It is my considered view that Clive Lloyd should have been made President of the WICB or Director of Cricket of the WICB where his experience, expertise and vast influence could have been better utilised, rather than as Chairman of Selectors where he could only select from what the pool produces.

Mr Cameron and those who support him care not for WI Cricket. No amount of money they have received seems enough and for them cricket development is to “talk about” but not “execute” particularly since, according to Cameron, the cricket belongs to them and they cannot be moved.

there are no cricket mercenaries.  that is more wicb propaganda crap to attack wipa and the players that some posters here run with.  the players find jobs to play cricket forgood money that set them up in good security in their lives..money they cant get from the wicb for the cricket they play for the west indies.


there are 2 things allyuh must consider.....

#1  how much do wicb executives make and how does that compare to what the players are paid?

#1 the wicb makes money off the mercenaries for free. FOR THE VERY SAME COMPETITIONS FOR WHICH THE PLAYERS ARE CALLED MERCENARIES

if our players are mercenaries to be disparaged, and disrespected why is the wicb making money hand over fist for every T20 contract a west indian player gets ::confused::

I find so many ordinary people are taken by the propaganda nonsense that flows from the top down. it is as if Pollard and Bravo, Russell and Gayle are criminals and devilish people for making a goddam living..called mercenaries

and while they were dong this they forgot to qualify for the champions which would have been a great opportunity to make some money for the wicb and the players too.

Bang and Pak did the right thing for themselves by cancelling the tri series in Zim.  they have already qualified..why give west indies an opportunity to dislodge either one of them.  it made no sense for them.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING SO UNFAIR AND TOTALLY SELF DESTRUCTIVE AS THE ATTACK ON WEST INDIAN PLAYERS BY THE WICB,  AND THE PEOPLE FOLLOWING THE WICB  NONSENSE..THE SAME WICB THAT HAS DESTROYED WEST INDIES CRICKET TOTALLY FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS.

AS AR AS I SEE IF WEST INDIANS CAN TOLERATE AND SUPPORT THE WICB AT THE EXPENSE OF THE PLAYERS THEY DESERVE THE CRICKET THEY GET..AND THE CRICKET THEY HAVE NOW

what came first ? the Chicken or the Egg ??  :-\
