Based on the players that were selected for the West Indies A team that faced South Africa in a warm-up match, it would appear they are just picking player names out of a hat.

I was surprised by how poor Blackwood's First-Class 50 over numbers are: an average of 19.31 in 23 matches with just 2 fifties and no centuries. He had a poor Super50 tournament this year also. I'm guessing that may have played a part in his non-selection.
