Orb has beaten several of the other contenders in the race...

Orb has proven great versatility.  he ran down  a massive pace in the Fountain of Youth from the 1 hole and deem in the backstretch.

the in the Florida Derby he was just off the pace and ran down the field from there.

it does not appear there is any pace that can be set in this Derby that Orb cant collar and run past.

and if the pace is slower than it would be even better for Orb ... if a horse like Super 99 would have set had he made the list... for now he would have to sit so far off the pace..always a dangerous option as far as I am concerned.  Orb can now ride the pace, even stalk it from just off and win from the front end.

Orb is the horse to beat from all that went on in the lead up to the race on Saturday

but despite what Orb is likely to do we must still determine the likely pace of the race on Saturday and what each will do relative to that pace from the respective post position

Verrazano seems to be the top pace in the race now that Super 99 is out. . but like Goldencents who stalks any pace from second or third back..Verrazano likes to do the same. Verrazano is not a an out and out front runner.

so determining the pace and how they will run according to rider and trainer strategy resulting from the pace scenario, a clearer picture may be gleaned
