I have a magic potion captain wifan.

its called karela.  stewed by the side, brewed into a tea, sliced thinly into a salad etc.  it has a wonderfully reductive effect on sugar levels

one of my fave Maps!!

but I only cook it maybe twice per year due to the 'frying'
plays havoc with my hubby's diabetes - and he can't stay away since it is one of his fave too!

oh....for Suhoor (my 3:30am breaky) I actually had dhall/rice/bora-aloo-shrimp!!!

I am finding that earing a small amount of rice in the morning is best for me
small amount mean 3-4 tbsp. of cooked rice

and I am having a glass of coconut water every morning - really keep away the thirst

I also use only the best organic carbies I can find when I eat carbies...unbleached organic all purpose flour, mixed with organic spelt flour, egg whites and coconut milk I make myself.

believe it or not organic carbies have a massively lesser deleterious sugar effect than the GMO crap.

dat is at least what I find! :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

I use coconut oil for the frying Belle....

that reduces the bad effect of the other oils...indeed it may help.  since I returned to coconut oil and milk a lot of things have improved for me Belle.

I find a lot going better than they used to with coconut milk particularly..especially infections including yeast that used to happen every time I popped something wrong into my mouth
