I am dying to return to cricket, admits Amir

Banned Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir expressed hope on Monday that he would get an early opportunity to resurrect his international cricket career which abruptly ended in August 2010 following a nasty spot-fixing scandal.

Amir, still only 21, was banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) tribunal in February 2011 for five years in the spot-fixing scandal along with the then Pakistan skipper Salman Butt and fellow paceman Mohammad Asif after they were found guilty of bowling deliberate no-balls in return for money during the fourth and final Test against England at Lord’s.

Amir's case was the most saddening of all three, specially since he was such a special young talent.

I still think he shouldn't be allowed to play international cricket to make an example out of him, but on the flip side of it maybe there could be some room for a second chance.

When is his ban ending anyway?

There is no sense in even suggesting he should be banned for life!


He had bee stupid, adjudged guilty and levied a punishment after which he should be allowed to play.


The ICC should have used him during his ban to tench youngsters about the corruptive elements within the game from which they should remove themselves.

I'm more sympathetic towards Amir, as he at least acknowledged it without much reluctance. I do believe that there is room for reform in his case. Also used to really love watching his bowling, such a prodigy. What a waste, could've been totally acing the test arena now.
