Lara is a stalwart legend, who has mastered every facet of the game of cricket, and that being said, I think that his words are to be heeded. Naturally The West Indies as a team will never move forward if we don't nurture the youth in our region. While the other major cricketing powers reinvest in their own infrastructure, The West Indies stay marred in the past. Sure we have great talent, but unnurtured talent will never stand up to the juggernauts of the cricketing world (Australia, England, South Africa and India).

Lara who still hold the test batting world record of 400 not out is currently in Jamaica....

Yeah I agree. I hate always using Australia as my frame of reference, but in the last 20 years or so when they are playing well there's been a bit of cockiness about them. Like they deserve to win and they know it before the game even starts. Actually, a better example would be Man Utd in the premier league under Ferguson. At the time, when teams faced United there was a fear/feeling of resigned defeat in teams before they even stepped onto the pitch. Under their new manager Moyes they've lost that aura.
Although it was before my era, from the docos and match highlights I've seen, the West Indies had this in abundance in the 80s. I'd love to see them get it back. The Windies have the ability to play a brand of cricket that no other team can play, and it'd be exciting to see it.
