1.56pm: Hmm, hold your excitement for just one minute. The covers for the square are being put back on

-- looks like they were just getting some of the standing water off them.

And here's the official line: There will be an official inspection at 3pm if there is no further rain.

#35
There *might* be a small dry window early afternoon as rain clears before heavy showers move in. Really clutching at straws though.

4.10pm
The umpires attempted an inspection at 4pm, but then lost the will to live. So, we'll try again tomorrow.
As you were in the series stakes, except West Indies have had an exceptional day of rearguard battling,
reaching the close on 10 for 2 without further loss.
They will have 98 overs to survive, and thereby secure the Wisden Trophy in perpetuity
given it is to be retired at the end of the series ~

People will tell you that T20 stats can qualify someone to play ODI but if you try to apply ODI performances to Test, people will blow a gasket.

#38
Limited over Formats cannot be compared to a 5 day duration ~

#39
Rain stopped play

West Indies need a big partnership from this pair, Jermain Blackwood and captain Jason Holder, if they are to see out the day with the bat and hold on for the draw that will allow them to retain the Wisden Tropy.

West Indies showed how not to do it when Blackwood nudged a Chris Woakes delivery towards cover point and set off for a single as Dom Bess swooped and threw brilliantly to striker's end to run out Roston Chase for 7.
