The prize of US$10,000 is part of the annual National Gas Company (NGC) Bocas Lit Fest and is sponsored by OCM, the holding company of the Caribbean Communications Network, parent company of the Express and TV6.

The collection’s title is taken from the body of a 1980 poem by Martin Carter,

For Walter Rodney, written in commemoration of that Guyanese political luminary’s assassination.

Roopnaraine functions as the vice-chairman of the coalition party A Partnership for National Unity,

and is a forerunning member of the 1974-established Working People’s Alliance. ...
