A 61-year-old woman was pulled from the debris of a collapsed Philadelphia building, bringing the toll of survivors up to 14. According to Deputy Fire Chief Robert Coyne, the woman was alert at the time of rescue but is now in critical condition at a nearby hospital. So far six people have been confirmed dead as a result of a collapse that seemed inevitable to passersby who’d observed the planned demolition of the empty building and worried about how it would be pulled off. “For weeks, they’ve been standing on the edge, knocking bricks off,†said a roofer who watched workers chip away at the building. “You could just see it was ready to go at any time. I knew it was going to happen.â€
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
