Hamilton police capture convicted sex offender

Hamilton police have arrested a 54-year-old man who has been deemed a high-risk offender.

Richard Lynn Smilsky was wanted on a charge of failing to comply with his probation, stemming from an offence committed in Toronto. He is also wanted by Hamilton police on a charge of failing to comply with a court order.

Smilsky  is a convicted sex offender, whose terms of probation bar him from recreation centres in Ontario but he was spotted at a Dundas recreation centre this past weekend.

Smilsky as arrested in Hamilton without incident, police said.
