Native players appearing for the first time in the Russian cricket league

The Russian Cricket League kicks off today, with 8 teams based in Moscow taking part. The participating teams are Arbat SC, New Power CC, Moskvich CC, Friends XI, Lokomotiv CC, Eagles CC, Russian Expats SC, and Overseas Students CC.

The matches will take part in the Locomotive stadium and Karacharovo Cricket stadium (Moscow).

For the first time, a team composed of majority native players are taking part (Moskvich CC).

Russian team which took part in the Euro T20 Cup 2012 in Sofia, Bulgaria:



Left to right: Alexander Bogatyrev, Ashwani Chopra, Egor Starobukhov, Atul Tiagi, Andrey Kripochin, Grigory Kochnov, Rajesh Sharma, Roshan Kumar Jha, Ashok Chowdhary, Pavel Akishev, Bobby Singh, Vasili Kochnov, Alexander Yesin and Andrey Shchpilo.

Well... in the first match, a team with 8 Russian players and 3 expats beat another team which was 100% South Asian.

Arbat Sports Club 96 all out in 14 overs (Shahid Ashraf 25, Mikhail Gulin 5 wkts, Subir Roy 5 wkts) lost to
Moskvich Cricket Club 97/5 (Alexander Esin 23 n.o, Subir Roy 20, Zeeshan Quershi 3 wkts).
