One person was critically injured and several other people were hurt on Wednesday morning after a car ran onto on a curb in the East Village in front of a corner bodega, leaving behind a trail of mangled bicycles, broken glass and other debris.
.
The 32-year-old male driver of the car was taken into custody, the police said.
He was southbound on Second Avenue shortly before 7 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle near the corner of East Fifth Street, the police said. He ran over a street sign, a fire hydrant and a tree before ripping through the outdoor display of a 24-hour bodega on the corner of Second Avenue and East Fourth Street.
Three people who were standing outside the bodega were injured, including a 62-year-old man who remained in serious condition, the police said.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
