Once its main aim was no longer relevant (fight against apartheid), the ANC lost its way. Corruption decimated the economy, and brain drain of English-speaking whites have affected various important sectors. Whatever gained during Nelson Mandela's rule was lost under Thabo Mbeki and Zuma.
