Kattapana: A five-year old boy who was tortured and beaten mercilessly by his father and stepmother continues to battle for his life at a hospital in Kerala. After a successful surgery four days ago, he is able to breathe without ventilator, but is still not out of danger.

On July 21, the child underwent a tracheotomy surgery, which allows him to breathe without his nose or mouth. Doctors say he was responding positively to it for four days. Though he is still not out of danger, doctors say they are hopeful of improvement in his condition as he is trying to move his limbs and open his eyelids.Five-year-old tortured by father, step mother off ventilator but still critical goo.gl/fb/osgo7
