Back to square one. Great. House Speaker John Boehner rejected President Obama’s offer to make a temporary deal to keep the government open and extend the debt ceiling in exchange for long-term talks. “What the president said today was, if there’s unconditional surrender by Republicans, he’ll sit down and talk to us,†Boehner said. Boehner’s endgame, though, remains up in the air, although Politico reports that he has gained some more respect from his own party, who have tried in the past to wrestle him from power. So point one for Boehner, zero points for the American people? Meanwhile, the debt-limit truthers were out in full force on Tuesday, attempting to debunk Obama’s claim of “chaos†if the U.S. defaults.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
