I dont agree with the creation of massive organisations. these soon lose their ideological integrity and take on the purpose of the survival of its staff for one reason..which is to go along to get along and continue going along.
then again massive organisations require centralized control/management..and on a requisite legal base. these are sucker set-up for infiltration and control from the top down. once so infiltrated their principle or ideological base will be corrupted and turned into their opposite of what they were created for..the reason for which they started out.
Omidyar would be better served..if his intent is really democratic... to provide the money as support for myriad journalistic projects, democratic in nature, bent on reporting truth and developing the integrity of journalism.. now starved of such support.
any/all journos who do truthful work cannot get printed, lose their jobs, are hounded by intelligence agencies etc. these need support, resources and exposure for their work. so in addition Omidyar can set up support for independent websites to which independent journos would have access for the results of their work
it is easy to subvert huge centralized organisations based on any and everything. but it is impossible to control thousands of independent journalists doing their thing in the world, with the means of getting their results out to the world
