Radiation is a killer! Until about 2 billion years ago, it was impossible to have any life on Earth because there was so much radiation on the planet surface that life was impossible. Gradually, the amount of radiation subsided and an ionosphere formed to protect the surface from cosmic radiation, making it possible for the first life forms to take shape. Now, in man's infinite wisdom, we go to using nuclear power, creating radiation that nature first eliminated in order to make life possible. Every time you produce radiation, you produce a product that has a guaranteed half-life, in some cases a half-life of billions of years, and there is no safe way to dispose of it! The radioactive waste that we have stored underground currently will take 250,000 years of intensive care. The reactors leak undisclosed amounts of radioactive waste every year, and then we are exposed to much more dramatic crises such as periodic meltdowns.
Why are we doing this to ourselves? It is imperative that we get control of this horrible force and eliminate it! The only people who want nuclear plants and nuclear weapons now are the wealthy corporations that manufacture them, and the politicians they have bankrolled. It’s a perfect example of an out-of-control government program that the country no longer needs, but which bureaucrats and contractors keep going for their own selfish interests.
We could simply concentrate on simple geothermal energies, wind and solar energies and be in much better shape. Who knows how much different the quality of our lives would be if we weren’t exposed to so much pollution from radiation, oil and coal? We have been living so long in such filth that most people think it’s normal to feel bad.
