One of the problems and why I seeing this trend worsening is that so many of the people making the plans, meeting etc. are always late too. When your never on time or ready for your own parties or meetings, that sends a message too. Being timely is not valued as much now either. So many of the people who get promoted are the ones who come to work 10 minutes late every day and their first job is to get themselves breakfast.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
