Is President Obama Making Life Better For Black People?
President ObamaMany critics of President Obama say that he isn't doing much to help African Americans, especially in the areas of home ownership and unemployment. Here's what a recent article on Bloomberg.com had to say about Black unemployment: According to a National Public Radio poll, 53 percent of blacks said their lives in general have gotten better in recent years while only 10 percent said their lives have gotten worse. A remarkable 86 percent reported being satisfied with their lives overall...

A remarkable 86 percent reported being satisfied with their lives overall. Juxtapose these findings with black unemployment that is consistently almost twice as high as white unemployment; black median adjusted income that is 59.2 percent that of whites (only a slightly higher share than in 1967); and more than one third of blacks reporting that they experience racism "a few times" a year.

Here's what another article on Bloomberg.com had to say about Black home ownership:
For blacks in the U.S., 18 years of economic progress has vanished, with a rebound in housing slipping further out of reach and the unemployment rate almost twice that of whites. The homeownership rate for blacks fell from 50 percent during the housing bubble to 43 percent in the second quarter, the lowest since 1995. The rate for whites stopped falling two years ago, settling at about 73 percent, only 3 percentage points below the 2004 peak, according to the Census Bureau.
