CBS Apologizes for Benghazi Story
CBS News's Lara Logan apologized on-air Friday morning after her 60 Minutes report on the Benghazi consulate attack fell apart under scrutiny from the New York Times and other critics. "Nobody likes to admit they made a mistake, but if you do you have to stand up and take responsibility," Logan said. She explained that Dylan Davies, a security officer for the U.S. in Benghazi, had given a different account of the events of September 11, 2012 to the F.B.I. than he gave to CBS. CBS had continued to stand by the story even as questions were raised, and Davies told The Daily Beast that the F.B.I report had been fabricated to smear him. Dylan had also written his account of the night in a book he wrote under the psuedonym Morgan Jones, which 60 Minutes failed to disclose was published by a subsidiary of CBS.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
