Maid torture: BSP MP's help died due to excessive bleeding

Police turns to CCTV footage for more leads as accused Jagriti Singh remains behind bars

Excessive bleeding caused the death of the 35-year-old, maid who was thrashed to death by Jagriti Singh, the dentist wife of a BSP MP, according to the maid's autopsy report. 

The report confirms the horrific tale of torture that Jagriti inflicted upon her domestic staffers as testified by a 17-year-old staffer and Jagriti's two former maids who worked at the MP's Chanakyapuri residence.

Rakhi Bahadra's body underwent a five-hour post-mortem at the Sucheta Kripalani Hospital. The report states  that she died of "excessive bleeding due to injuries inflicted by beating". Jagriti has confessed to beating Rakhi mercilessly.

Jagriti and her husband, Dhananjay Singh, have been arrested on charges of murder, torture and destruction of evidence as well as for charges under the Juvenile Justice Act. While announcing a five-day police remand on Thursday, the court had observed that the charges against the two were "very serious". Meena Sardar, who had worked for the couple earlier, told the magistrate that Jagriti would force them to "drink urine" and would "celebrate" the torture she inflicted upon her servants.

Rakhi, a West Bengal native, had injury and burn marks all over her body. She had been tortured repeatedly over the last 10 months. Jagriti reportedly used hot iron rods to beat Rakhi and had even kicked her on her private parts.

While the police have seized sticks, rods and antler horns among other tools that Jagriti reportedly used to torture her domestic staff, no iron rod has yet been found. For further leads, the police is trying to access the footage from the 20-odd CCTV cameras that Jagriti installed in the house to monitor the domestic staff.
