Guaifenesin may have a bitter taste.
If you are using the liquid form of this medication, carefully measure the dose using a special
measuring device/spoon.
Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose.

Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication.... ( non alcohol

)
Fluids will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.

Expectorants increase the bronchial secretion and enhance the expulsion of mucus
by air passages of the lungs.
This makes it is easier to cough up the phlegm or sputum.
Expectorants are used in cough mixtures for chesty coughs.

Medicines derived from the
guaiac tree
were in use as a generic remedy by American
indigenous peoples when explorers reached North America in the 16th century.
The Spanish encountered " guaiacum wood "when they conquered Santo Domingo;
it was soon brought back to Europe, where it acquired an immense reputation in the sixteenth
century as a cure for syphilis and certain other diseases..."
