Ramparri Rampersaud (1936 – 2014)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Peter Jaikarran's mother, Mrs. Ramparri Rampersaud.
She was born at No. 46 Village in Berbice, Guyana in 1936 and was married to the late Baba Rambelas from Port Mourant. She was well known as Betty but popularly went as Dee.
She is the mother of Peter, Shirley (deceased), Paul and Stanley, the grandmother of Terry, Jerry, Pauline, Peter, Gary and Vanessa, and the great grandmother of Inari.
Aunty Betty is also survived by her brother, Bayo, and her sisters Sundri and Dolly.
Her three boys - Peter, Paul & Stanley - pioneered the West Indian style restaurant & nightclub known as Calypso Hut (One, Two and Three) back in the 1970's in the Toronto area. One of her great delights in life was to be with, and bear witness to the success of her boys. She was very big-hearted and passed that on to her boys. Aunty Betty was always very warm and welcoming to everyone whenever she was at the Hut.
