MINISTER of Education Priya Manickchand, in observance of International Women’s Day which was observed on Saturday, March 8, hosted a luncheon to celebrate women in Berbice. The luncheon was held on Sunday, at the St. Francis Conference Centre, Rose Hall , Berbice.
The event was a lively, beautiful affair that began with entertainment from the Theatre Guild, followed by lunch.
The gathering of approximately 200 hundred women expressed their gratitude to the minister for honoring them. Some were elated to be in the presence of the minister for the first time.
Minister Manickchand used the opportunity to interact with the gathering. She encouraged them to lift up, support, and encourage each other. She highlighted the fact that it is important for women to take care of themselves.
The invitees were head teachers and teachers, women from the Regional Democratic Council and Non-Governmental Organisations.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
