Very interesting! There seem to be a whole load of regions that want to be absorbed into the Russian federation. I wonder why? Is life in Russia all that amazing? Does Russian citizenship make one very wealthy? I live in South India, and I wouldn't mind my state becoming a part of Russia if that meant I would have a better standard of living, because, to be honest, things aren't all that great around here!

A variety of reasons.
1. Most of these regions have significant populations of ethnic Russians or other Russified ethnic groups (such as Crimea, Donestk, Transdniester.etc)
2. The average salary in Russia is almost 7-8 times higher than the same in these rebel regions
3. Pensions are much higher in Russia as compared to the rebel regions.
