Nepal Gov’t to Meet With Sherpas
After a New York Times report generated much publicity for Mt. Everest Sherpas considering a strike, government officials in Nepal have agreed to meet with them and to create a relief fund for those killed or injured. The government has also agreed to provide pensions for older Sherpas and educational assistance for Sherpa children. Originally, Nepal was only going to offer about $413 to families of the Sherpas killed in last week’s avalanche. So far, 13 are confirmed dead, and three are still missing.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
