FDA to Ban E-Cigs for Minors

The FDA will issue new proposed rules Thursday that would ban sales of electronic cigarettes to minors as well as require health warning labels and approval for new products. In addition, the FDA is cracking down on pipe tobacco and cigars, which have long slipped through the regulatory net, and will require photo identification for the sale of the items. The FDA will also require the makers of the e-cigarettes and cigars to register with the agency and provide a detailed list of the product ingredients as well as manufacturing processes and scientific data. However, the proposed measures do not contain regulations on the flavors of the items, which can include bubble gum and grape.
