A 15 – year – old boy and his 13 – year – old female cousin of Bush Lot village

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 15 – year – old boy and his 13 – year – old female cousin of Bush Lot village on the Essequibo Coast are battling for their lives at the Suddie hospital after they ingested a quantity of poisonous substance because their parents had objected to their love affair.

According to reports, the teenagers who are students of a Secondary School reportedly went to the backdam aback their village on Tuesday afternoon (April 29) and consumed the poison in an attempt to end their life.

iNews ( www.inewsguyana.com ) understands that the teenaged boy phoned his parents and told them that he and his cousin, who is allegedly his lover had drank poison and were dying.

Relatives rushed to the scene and found the young lovers in a helpless condition. They were both rushed to the Suddie hospital and admitted. Doctors and nurses are desperately trying to save their lives.

The incident has left many in shock. Only recently the Department of Education at Cotton Field held a rally on “Raising awareness on suicide” under the theme “Speak up and reach out, prevent suicide.”
