The assassination of noted legal luminary and servant of the people Dana Seetahal, SC is not only a tragic loss to the people of T&T or the Caribbean, but to all peace-loving societies. Our civilisation is undergoing a serious crisis. Her death brings home the point that no one is immune from the savagery which continues to haunt our land. What is required to save us all from such acts of violence, thuggery and terrorism? These culprits continue to demonstrate that they do not subscribe to the concept of reverence for life.
In order to save future generations from this malady, and also to stop the blood of citizens from flowing on our streets, we have to start afresh, teaching about the concept of the Godhead; about life, its worth and the purpose of mankind on earth. Every time we become witnesses to such brutality, we quickly espouse initiatives to stop it, but we do not go any further.
Let us start in our school system with compulsory religious teaching to all children. Our religious leaders must not only make pronouncements from the pulpits, they now have an additional task to make it happen. And the time is now. We have lost a thinker in Ms Seetahal. Her life was one of reason and understanding. She exuded a deep spirit of humanitarianism.
She has left us notebooks of lessons on her life, her intellectual capacity, her concept of justice and reason, as well as her notes on public governance and the cause to bring a sense of sanity to the people of this land. Her death is a national tragedy. I extend my deepest sympathy to her bereaved family and friends, and there is deep consolation in the fact that not a single person has anything untoward or negative or inhumane about Ms Seetahal. May her soul rest in peace.

crap editorial!
Trinidad is a brutal society, full of racism and the most murderous human exploitation.
Trinidad.. as is the whole west indies.. is the product of the most wicked and murderous exploitation and we produce citizens to match
the current regimes have continued west indian exploitation into our semi-independent phase... much more of the same exploitation... which is now deteriorating back into abject financial slavery.. even more rapacious than the last phase of chattel slavery and indenture out of which we just came
Trinidad is an international drug trade portal..apparently an important one. lots of money therefore is up for grabs among ruthless elites and ordinary gangs who love money, and do not have a care in the world about killing others.
that is Trinidad and the west indies ..the product of a compendium of awful social relations on a historic base of genocide and slavery.
nothing better can come out of there unless there is basic, thorough-going social change, from exploitation to an ordinary based cooperative society...which change seeks to address and reconcile the awful social legacy of the west indies, producing sane and decent citizens who can build a human regional social life
the elites and the people for the most part now are all criminal. from president to prime minister down to ordinary folk.
the country operates on financial organisation that is criminal, contrary to the constitution. once one enters politics and is aware of the corruption and illegality at the centre of society, they report it, fight it, or get out. if they stay in they become complicit in crime against the nations and are subject to arrest.
that is the state all the 'leaders' of the country/region exist in..criminality. prime minister, ministers of the state, state president, police etc. they are all criminals, condone criminality, kerry out criminal acts..exploit the people, engage in a manners of behaviour against the people.
and the people have deteriorated socially into acannibalistic rabble, worse than the previously enslaved/indentured, uneducated, misdirected hordes at the point of independence
such a people is now beaten and corralled by an insensate Israeli trained Trinidad police/military combination, that is like a marauding herd of devils... is now without conscience. so anything goes.
that is what they want..money, money and more money..the local elites who join up with the forriner to exploit the people. why would they expect anything different from the people given what they do to the people their own constant criminality...what they do routinely for money and more money?
a whole lot more awful crap is to come unless there is social change..positive social change. I have no tears to shed for this murdered woman. she knew what she was about..and whatever risks were involved.
and if she was 'good' there is no more room for individual sacrifice as a positive factor indeed in any social mix anywhere in the world right now. personal sacrifice is nonsense, counter productive no longer necessary and valid in the life of the world. nothing will change for the better save it is from the collective efforts of ordinary people, aware that only the domination of their collective ordinary interest can now save the human species and take it forward indefinitely
the people know enough to collectively put an end to the crap and start a new progressive way of life. its up to them and no one else.
if they do not do so then they like it so. but personal sacrifice is not a legit or socially productive substitute
