‘Happy’ Iranians arrested for dance video

hey may not have any homosexuals in Iran, per Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, but they do have dancers who are willing to risk their “freedom†just to shake a leg on video to one of America’s most overplayed songs, “Happy†by Pharrell Williams.
Think Footloose, just without Kevin Bacon. And in this version, according to several reports, the kids actually get busted for defying the ridiculous law.
“If our Lord wasn’t testing us, how would you account for the proliferation, these days, of this obscene rock and roll music, with its gospel of easy sexuality and relaxed morality?†Wait, that’s from Footloose.
Today’s updated dialogue offers this bit of bonkers from the Tehran police chief: “After a vulgar clip which hurt public chastity was released in cyberspace, police decided to identify those involved in making that clip.â€
Iran’s state-run channel on Tuesday ran this program in which the dancers apparently confessed on camera. They supposedly said they were duped into making the video and weren’t aware it would be posted online. Here’s a subtitled version:
