In case last night’s Game of Thrones didn’t satisfy your hunger for monarchial dysfunction, the Spanish royal family will. It was announced Monday that Spain’s King Juan Carlos, 76, will be stepping down in favor of his son, Crown Prince Felipe. Juan Carlos had been very popular in Spain and was praised for bringing stability and democracy to the country after the death of brutal dictator Francisco Franco. His reputation suffered in recent years, though. He has been associated with a corruption investigation into his daughter and son-in-law, and he was slammed for taking an elephant-hunting trip in the middle of the country’s severe financial crisis.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Not as a dramatic of an article as I would've liked. If his popularity was failing, then abdicating seems like the most logical path to take. He is getting old and his son would likely do a better job in the eyes of the people anyway.

The Indignados protest on economic reform has taken its Toll
The good Twitter and Social media Activists in Barcelona and Madrid had an impact.

spain's king is a scandal ridden crook, a hindrance and an example of why they elites must be up-ended.
alternatives to the established way are coming from all directions as exposed by the recent european votes.. and referenda in spain.
no dounb they are afraid of revolution in spain as in france more than anywhere else given the history of those 2 nations.
I can see a directive for the abdication of the spanish king coming straight out out zion..a directive he could not say NO to.
they will put his 'clean' son in his place and hope for the best
